Cyprus Visa Information
Anyone who arrives in the Republic of Cyprus must present a passport, except for EU member nation citizens and nationals of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Iceland, who can use their government-issued identity card for this purpose.
As the Republic of Cyprus is an EU country, citizens of the abovementioned countries, as well as of Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Canada, and the United States, do not need a visa to visit the country for 90 days or fewer. Those who desire a longer stay must obtain a visa.
However, citizens of the Republic of South Africa and India, among others, need to apply for and obtain visas before their departure to the Republic of Cyprus from their home country.
Citizens of a select few countries from Africa and the Middle East must also obtain a transit visa if they have a stopover in an airport in the Republic of Cyprus. As always, if you are unsure about whether you need a visa, it is best to contact the embassy or consulate of the country you plan to visit.
